There are many reports about people managing their glasses inefficiently( by dropping them, being negligent, and keeping them unclean.

Let us learn some Do’s  and Don'ts about out managing glasses:

Dont’s

Never use your shirt trail to clean the glasses

  1. Never use coarse material for cleaning your glasses namely tissues or paper towels as they are  very much prone to minor scratches so your glasses may lose clarity over time

  2.  Don't use products with acetone(the commonest product that contains acetone is a nail polish remover)on your glasses in an attempt to clean them, acetone, when left on the surface of plastic or glass, can surprisingly be more destructive than you might think

  3. Never use your own saliva to  clean your glasses it might seem like a good idea but trust me  your saliva will only worsen  the smudge

Do’s

  1. Microfiber cloth is the most effective tool you can use to get rid of some  dust or a smudge without smearing or scratching them

  2.  A spray made for eyeglasses (Cleansing solutions)

 Instructions for cleaning your glasses

  • Always wash your hands to prevent transferring germs from your hands to your glasses

  •  Run warm water over glasses to get rid of dust

  •  Wipe the glasses with a microfiber cloth

  •  You can also use a gas Duster to dry the water if you want to avoid streaks and watermarks. cleansing solution after it gets tried can also be used

Not only should we clean our spectacle lenses but also the frames as the frame is constantly touching our skin it must always be kept hygienic and it may also help in treating minor dermatological issues which were responsible for those unclean frames.

 Instructions for cleaning your frames

  • You can run the frame under  warm water or use a mild soap and apply it to our frames using the tips of your finger

  •  You can rinse the frame thoroughly under  warm water

  •  Use  a moist towel to clean the frame

When you are facing difficulties in cleaning classes at the home you may consider fora professional cleaning by your Eye Healthcare practitioner

Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, and eyeglass experts who offer professional cleaning, you can bring your glasses to where you purchased from for a complimentary cleaning.

If you are unable to get rid of the dust or smudge by the processes I have mentioned above you can always go for professional cleaning of your glasses by an expert.

Problems like oily buildup on your frames which you are unable to get rid of, you may always consider professional cleaning to be an option.

Eye Movement Dysfunction

The rotational movements of intorsion and extorsion are necessary to keep a viewed object stable and positioned on the appropriate part of the retina as the head is tilted from side to side. To illustrate imagine standing upright and looking at an arrow that is pointing superiorly.  Now tilt your head 45 degrees to the right, does the arrow move with your head? Now point at a 45 degree angle, hopefully not. Because of intorsion and extortion the arrow should still appear to be pointing superiorly. In this case the right eye has been intowarded and the left eye has been equivalently extorted so that the image falls on the same part of the retina as before the head tilt. Obviously our eye has a limited range of intorsion and extorsion. They cannot spin completely around within the orbit. And if we were to stand on our head the arrow would appear to change direction and appear to point inferiorly. Now, lets look at the movements produced by each of the extra oculum muscles. Medial and...

What does 20/20 vision actually mean?

What does it mean when you have got 20/20 Vision? 20/20 Vision is a term coined from an in office test to determine visual acuity or clarity of vision.  If we're getting technical, the term 2020 actually refers to the size of a letter, a person can read when they are 20 feet away.   When you walk into the exam room, and you see the Big E on the top of the chart, that's a 2200 letter. The next line down is 2100 and so on and so forth until you get to that small 2020 line, which is actually optimal vision that we check for in the exam. When patients have trouble seeing smaller letters on the eye chart, glasses and contacts can be prescribed to correct vision to a point where the 2020 line becomes focused.  Measuring visual acuity is important, and is used as a way for your eye doctor to standardize how you're seeing over time.  It can be used as a comparison tool from exam date to exam date.  For example, if you saw 2020 last year, and you're seeing the 2030 ...
